Qualtrics

Qualtrics is a powerful survey application that allows MSU affiliated users to create surveys, polls, and collect feedback using a variety of question types. This guide provides some introductory resources designed to assist in the use of Qualtrics.

Qualtrics and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) Compliance

According to the Qualtrics web site, "Qualtrics provides technology that enables our customers to be GDPR-compliant, Qualtrics customers should seek their own legal advice as to how to comply with GDPR. If you have additional questions about GDPR compliance, please reach out to your Customer Success Representative or contact Qualtrics Support by logging into your Support Portal."

Security Considerations

When using Qualtrics, keep in mind security and privacy considerations. The following excerpts are from the ITS website:

Qualtrics is an MSU Office of Research provided resource and subject to all appropriate MSU operating policies and procedures. Consider legal, regulatory, and University policy requirements when collecting data in areas such as:

  • FERPA restrictions
  • HIPAA restrictions
  • Human Subject restrictions  

The Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research (IRB) reviews all research activities which involve human subjects for compliance with federal regulations and ethical standards.
