Executive Departments and Cabinet

The Executive Departments serve as the administrative arms of the President of the United States, and are similar to ministries in parliamentary governments. Their heads hold the title of Secretary (except for the Attorney General in charge of the Justice Department) and are each members of the President's Cabinet. The heads of Executive Departments are also included in the line of succession to the President, after the Vice President, the Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate.
