Please contact our librarians for help with your class or research needs.

About this guide

This Research Guide was developed in conjunction with MSU's Center for Community-Engaged Learning (CCEL), and serves to provide research materials for faculty and staff involved with community-engaged learning projects and/or courses.

If you have considered undertaking a community-engagement project and/or course, and you want to know more about how community-engaged learning can boost your application for promotion and tenure, this guide provides resources that define and explain community-engaged learning, links to funding opportunities for community-engaged learning, gives examples of peer-reviewed publications on community-engaged learning endeavors, and provides web and print resources for further research.

If you are considering turning your community-engaged learning project and/or course into a publication, and you'd like to get assistance from a librarian, go to and click on "Email your question," and a research services librarian will get in touch with you.
