This guide is to help you identify useful resources related to civil and environmental engineering research. It puts together the library's online article databases and other sources that could be helpful for you to find information. 

General Searching

Doing research? These are some general search tools:

Library Catalog

  • Searches the collections of the MSU Libraries as well as other libraries in the area.
  • Useful for finding books/ebooks that provide a good overview of your research topic.

Journal Article Databases

  • Search for peer reviewed journal articles, professional trade magazine articles, conference papers, and newspapers.
  • These databases include content from many subject fields.

Click on the Article Databases tab in the left navigation bar for additional resources that could be useful for your specific area.

Google Scholar

  • Search for scholarly journals articles, conference papers, theses/dissertations, government publications, and other materials.
  • Access Google Scholar from the library's website to find full-text articles that the library has paid for.
