This guide offers an introduction to a selection of current news publications available through the Mississippi State University Libraries. The guide includes directions on how to register for the Chronicle of Higher Education, the NYTimes, and the WSJ.

New York Times Subscription

Mississippi State University students, faculty, and staff are eligible to access the New York Times through the MSU Libraries subscription. Access includes the NYTimes.com, the NYTimes.com mobile app, The New York Times in Education site, and the Learning Network.  Your access to The New York Times web site is available from any location, on or off campus.  Some NYT content is not included in the MSU Libraries subscription including: Games, Cooking, Wirecutter, and The Athletic. 

New Users

New users will need to create an account by visiting the NY Times. Once you visit the New York Times from our website, you will be able to create an account to access it remotely through the Web or the NYT app, downloadable for Apple and Android users. Be sure to use your MSU email address. 

Renewing Your Account

Faculty and staff will have 4 years of full account access, after which they must re-register by visiting The NYT access page. Students will have access until December 31 of their selected graduation year.

Included in our subscription is the NYT inEducation site, which provides educators and students with the ability to make the most of the New York Times digital content.  Included are faculty contributions, curated NYT articles, co-curricular activities, and weekly digests in several major subject areas.

The Learning Network

The Learning Network

Supported by the New York Times, this curricular tool offers activities for students and resources for teachers. Included are lesson plans, quizzes, picture prompts, and related writing assignments.  A K-12 companion to the InEducation section (which focuses on higher education.)
