This guide will help you celebrate Dawg Days with the library. We have events scheduled all week long! Visit specific tabs on this guide for more information on each event.

Professor Bully

You may complete Professor Bully's Great Library Race individually or in a group.  You will use the libraries' website and the physical space to answer the questions below.  Everyone who completes the race will receive a Professor Bully sticker and enter a drawing for prizes.  You also have the opportunity to win a better prize by creating a slide show or video using Adobe Express.  All Adobe Express videos must tag the Library on Instagram by August 23 at 11:59pm. We will announce the winner on Thursday, Aug. 24.

The library has many different things to offer students!  Not just books!  Professor Bully's Great Race will introduce you to the library and the library's website.  The only requirement for the race is you must be a current student at Mississippi State University.  You can be an undergraduate or graduate students.  You can even be a Distant Education students!

For each clue, you will need to film a short video clip or take photos as proof you have completed the race.  

Physical Space Locations  

  1. Name a book in the exhibit case outside the John Grisham Room?  

  1. Some of your classes may meet in the ELI or Giles computer labs. Take a picture outside these rooms.  Be sure to include the sign. 

  1. Where do you check out books? Take a picture of a team member at the desk.  

  1. The library has lots of dry erase boards for studying and group work. Find one of these white boards, draw a bulldog, and take a photo.  

  1. Where does the Mobile Writing Center meet in the library?  

  1. Name one of the machines or craft materials available in the Makerspace area.  

  1. Take a photo with a desk used by Abraham Lincoln!  

  1. Where are treadmills located?  

  1. Find the Bulldogs in Action exhibit located on the 2nd floor of the library. Who were the "Three Young Men of State"? What roles did they play in World War II? 

Finding Resources: Use the Library Website, Databases, and Online Catalog  

  1. Find a graphic novel.  What is the title and name of the author?  

  1. Name one of the digital collections or digital exhibits the library offers.  

  1. Find a journal article about your favorite animal.  What is the title, author, journal title, volume, issue number, and year?  

  1. Who is the librarian for your major?  

  1. Name a Research Guide you could use.  

  1. Name software available in the Computer Commons area.  

  1. What email do you use to make an appointment with Special Collections  

  1. The library has an Instagram account, take a screen shot of a recent post.    

Last, find one of the Welcome Back tables at the drill field or Hardy Road entrance to receive your Professor Bully sticker and put your name in the drawing for prizes.  Tables will be available to receive stickers on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (August 16-18) from 11am-2pm.
