AI Workshops @ the MSU Libraries

The Mississippi State University Libraries offers a number of AI-related workshops each semester.  In addition, specialized sessions can be designed and offered for your class or department.  The following list includes a description, material, and recent recordings for these sessions.  Please note that options and versions change quite rapidly; the information provided was correct at the time the workshop was offered. AI and Academic Integrity: What's Smart, What's Sketchy

Generative AI can help you study.  But where's the line between help and harm?  This online workshop explores how to use generative AI tools ethically in your coursework and avoid violating academic integrity policies. 

From Literature Review to Draft: Generative AI in Academic Writing

Generative AI can assist researchers with tasks like summarizing sources, organizing arguments, and refining drafts.  This session demonstrates how to use AI tools effectively throughout the academic writing process while maintaining scholarly vigor.  Use cases from a variety of fields will be discussed. 

Prompt Like a Pro: Getting What You Need from ChatGPT

Learn how to write effective prompts that get accurate, useful, and personalized results from generative AI tools like ChatGPT.  We'll cover the basics of how AI works, what makes a good prompt, and how to iterate for better outcomes.

Teaching with AI: Strategies for the Classroom

Generative AI is changing the University classroom.  This workshop offers practical strategies for integrating AI in the course design, assignments, and classroom activities while upholding academic integrity.

Understanding the Ethical Use of Generative AI

This online workshop will address some of the ethical considerations of generative AI.  We'll explore key issues such as misinformation, bias, privacy, and accountability, supplemented by real-world case studies that promote responsible generative AI use.  This workshop includes RCR credit for attendance; viewing the recorded session does not quality for RCR credit. 

Write On, Dawgs: Using AI to Brainstorm, Revise, and Polish Your Papers

From brainstorming to grammar checks, generative AI can support your writing process - if you know how to use it right.  This online session will show how generative AI tools can help you clarify ideas, refine drafts, and strengthen arguments.
