The School of Architecture continues the Book of the Semester with Juhani Pallasmaa’s book The Eyes of the Skin: Architecture and the Senses for Fall 2022. 

Juhani Pasllasmaa is a Finnish Architect well-known for his writings on architectural theory and the artsThe Eyes of the Skin, is an infamous text on architectural theory published in 1996.  For many students in architecture programs it is a required reading.  Pallasmaa's book consists of two essays, the first explores the western culture since the Greeks and its impact on architecture which relies heavily on sight.  The second essay, explores the other senses besides sight in relation to architecture and how to create a space of belonging.
